Use miniExtensions to send text from Airtable records to xAI’s Grok models and store the response back in Airtable. This automation is useful for summarizing, rewriting, translating, or classifying record content without copying each entry into a separate AI interface.

Record-specific prompts
The Input Field supplies the content, while the optional Additional Prompt describes what Grok should do with it. Use a shared prompt to apply one writing style or classification task across a collection. When instructions need to vary, choose an Airtable prompt field; a formula can combine the task with other record values.
Select a Grok model available to your account, or provide a supported custom model name. A System Message can set the task’s general context and tone. The response is saved to the chosen output field rather than automatically distributed across several columns.
Use Skip to retain existing responses or Overwrite to regenerate them. A filtered view and the available manual, scheduled, or webhook run options help fit processing into your Airtable workflow.
Examples of useful workflows
Summarize research notes
Ask Grok to condense the selected notes into a few sentences while preserving the source’s main points. Save the summary next to the original content for review.
Apply a consistent writing style
Provide a prompt defining the desired tone, length, and format. Use the output field for the revised draft so the original remains available.
Sort feedback into topics
Include the allowed topics in your prompt and request a category with an explanation. Check sample results before using them to route work or publish reports.

Connect your base, select the input text, prompt, model, and output field. Add an xAI API key for normal processing and try a sample record.
