What’s New
⠀Latest Updates
Added We have added more shortcut (gear) icons to make it easier to edit on-screen elements on our extensions, e.g. form header, portal tables and login page and fields customization.
Improved The Login and Share settings have been merged for the form. These settings are closely linked to each other, so presenting them on the same page should make it much easier to understand how they interact. The login page is now enabled via the “How do users access their records?” setting.
Improved Collaborators have been renamed to “Builders” throughout our platform, in an effort to prevent confusion between end-users, and people who can create or edit extensions.
Improved The number of builders, along with the appropriate limit, is now shown in the usage counters on the dashboard and the workspace settings page.
Improved Select-style settings with only two options now show those options side-by-side on the configuration page to take better advantage of the available space.
Improved When showing a read-only version of the submitted record after submission, the form now scrolls back to the top of the page automatically.
Improved The “View” button to open records from a grid is now less prominent, unless the user hovers over a specific record.
Improved The “Disable form at scheduled date” settings have been tweaked slightly to avoid repetitive titles and decrease clutter on the page.
Improved The “Load more” button on portals and shared views has been redesigned and moved to the bottom left corner of the extension.
Improved The option to show a form field on the side of the previous one has been renamed to “Row placement”, and turned into a select-style settings to decrease confusion.
Improved The “back” button to go from a base’s extensions list to the list of all bases now contains a “Back” label, in addition to the icon.
Fixed Several bug fixes. As always, we will notify affected users directly.
Added You can now hide field titles for portal summary fields! This gives you the ability to either not show a title at all for a more streamlined look, or to set a custom title by simply including it in the field itself.
Added A brief success message is now shown when creating a new linked record through a child form.
Added We have added a shortcut to the dashboard to add our extension from the Airtable Marketplace. This makes it easier to administer the extensions for each base. Give it a try!
Added When running an automation in test mode, the record that has been processed will now be opened automatically for your convenience.
Improved We are now showing the actual extension instead of the configuration page when creating a brand new extension, or when accessing an extension from the dashboard.
Improved Any new forms that are created will now add up to the first 10 fields from your table by default.
Improved Expanding a record in the side panel will no longer squeeze gallery cards to be extremely narrow.
Improved We have grouped the mutually exclusive settings in the form’s Submission Actions section into a dropdown to reduce confusion caused by these settings previously hiding each other.
Improved The default label for the “Open Record” button on the grid is now “View”.
Improved Child forms used exclusively for creating now records now default to “Add” for their submit button label. Other child forms now default to “Save”.
Improved The “Open Form” button will now always open the form, regardless of the settings. If creating records is disabled, it will open a record from the table.
Improved We have renamed some settings in the Users Table & Login section in both the Form and Portal to make them easier to understand.
Improved Email and Field Validation will no longer be applied to read-only form fields, since the user would have no way of resolving the issue themselves.
Improved When opening a base that doesn’t have any extensions in it, the quick start popup that is shown now features table pickers for the form and portal so you can create these extensions with the appropriate settings. Skipping this popup will now take you straight to the Create Extension page.
Improved We’ve streamlined the experience for adding external links to a portal or shared view. The configuration for the new link is now opened immediately once it’s been created.
Improved Search on the create extension page has been improved. We now also detect keywords from the text in the extension recommendation screen shown first, to then present the most relevant extensions and automations.
Improved We have added red asterisks to every required setting in our product’s creation screens.
Improved Portals and shared views can no longer be created without any data tables.
Improved Selecting a view type is now required when creating a portal. Selection is limited to the most popular types (Grid, Gallery, List). Other view types can still be configured once the portal has been created.
Improved We have tweaked the selection mechanism for the default login field for forms and portals to more reliably select an “email” field as the default.
Improved Newly added portal and shared view tables will now only feature the first select field as a dropdown filter by default, instead of adding all select fields from the start.
Improved Linked record fields on child forms are now expandable by default for any new child form.
Improved We’ve added some tooltips in field pickers to explain why certain field types cannot be selected in some cases.
Improved We have made some improvements to the popup shown when trying to understand why you’re ineligible for a certain plan. This should help reduce confusion around this topic.
Improved The “Title” setting for fields and tables has been renamed to “Custom Title”.
Improved The “Embedded Redirect Type” setting has been moved to the Share section, alongside the embed code.
Improved Updating a portal’s user profile will now refresh the tables available to the user, so that any tables that might (no longer) need to be hidden from the user can be shown/hidden accordingly.
Improved We’ve slightly tweaked the landscape setting for our PDF generation automations. It is now a setting to choose between portrait and landscape, instead of just a switch to toggle landscape on or off.
Improved When generating tables using the Invoice Form / Order Form template, the products table will now be pre-populated with a few products.
Improved On the free plan, we now show labels identifying Advanced and Starter extensions in more places.
Improved We now show longer extension titles on the configuration page before truncating.
Improved We have added some icons to buttons across our products for improved clarity.
Improved We have made some improvements to the extension usage counter shown in the top right corner of the dashboard to help reduce confusion on certain plans.

Removed The option to add an internal description to extensions and automations has been deprecated.
Added We have introduced an “Invoice Form” template, which makes it much easier to create a full Airtable and miniExtensions setup for an invoice or purchase order form (or similar). We can even auto-generate all the tables for you so everything is connected correctly out of the box!
Added When adding new views to a portal/shared view table, you are now prompted to select which Airtable views to add. Any views that are selected will be added as a view to the table and their sorting and filtering will be applied. Please note that these new views will still respect the view type set in the table settings, so may not reflect the view type in Airtable when first added.
Added Our PDF generation automations now support landscape mode.
Added We have added a toggle to turn off the field title for a form field. Previously a workaround was needed to achieve this.
Added You can now log into a portal or login form as a random user to test out the Magic Link feature.
Added A banner will now be shown on the dashboard when a workspace subscription is set to be canceled at the end of the billing cycle.
Added We are now checking for correct syntax for common embed URLs (specifically Airtable and YouTube) for external links to prevent confusion when using the incorrect URL for an embedded link.
Improved We have added an additional step to the portal creation process. Users are now asked to confirm if they already have a user table. If the answer is “No”, we provide instructions for how to set this up. This is another step in making it easier to set up a portal. Stay tuned for further improvements!
Improved When reaching the limit for the maximum number of records to be linked in a field, the “Find” and “Create New” buttons will no longer hide completely. This has caused some confusion in the past, so now these buttons will be greyed out instead with a tooltip shown when hovering over them. This should make it much clearer to users why they can’t link or create records.
Improved More field types can now be used when selecting fields for certain settings. Previously, we had restricted types in an overly strict manner. Now, you have more flexibility as to which field to use in automations, or extensions settings.
Improved The “x” icon to unlink records in linked record fields has been replaced with a “-” to prevent confusion with the delete functionality. We have also added a tooltip when hovering over the button to make it clearer what it does.

Improved The “Header & Profile” section for Portals and Shared Views has been split up into separate “Header”, “Profile”(Portal only) and “Menu” sections to make finding the right setting easier.

Improved The “Enable multi-page form for section headers” setting has been renamed to “Multi-page mode for section headers”.
Improved The shortcuts shown in the Form’s “Add field” menu now send a message to Fin, instead of opening an article. This makes it much easier to ask follow-up questions and receive better guidance.
Improved We’ve removed the Ask AI textbox from the create extension page and instead made the search bar more prominent.
Improved We have added some guidance on how to create the “Edit Records” formula in Airtable to help less experienced users set this up.

Removed We’ve removed the filter conditions for the “Auto Delete Records” automation. Filtering should be applied by selecting an Airtable view in the “Run” menu.
Added By popular demand, we’ve added an automation that allows you to update existing records using the Airtable form. This automation had previously been available on our legacy site and was then replaced by our form extension. We still recommend using our form for editing existing records, but if you want to keep using your existing Airtable form, this is now an option.

Improved We have added a little more vertical space between the form title and description to improve readability.
Fixed Several bug fixes. As always, we will notify affected users directly.
Removed We’ve deprecated the logo feature for child forms. If you are currently using this feature you can continue to do so, but this will no longer be available for new child forms.
Improved You can now turn a Starter Form into an Advanced Form with one click, straight from the configuration page. You will no longer have to start over if you find the Starter Form too limiting.
Improved We’ve removed the limit on the number of advanced extensions available for trial on the free plan. This will allow our users to more easily test complicated workflows.
Improved The table’s primary field will now be hidden from portal/shared view tables when not using the fields from the expanding form. Previously, there was no way to fully hide the primary field in that scenario.
Improved Default settings for the portal user profile have been adjusted. The portal now defaults to showing the logged in user record’s title and setting all fields within the profile form to read only. Only non-computed fields will be added to the profile form by default now. All of these settings can, of course, still be adjusted to your liking. Existing portals remain unaffected.
Improved The button used to save a signature in an attachment field has been changed to “Sign” to avoid confusion with the form’s “Submit” button.

Improved Portal/Shared view tables with only one view no longer allow that view to override the default view settings and views overriding the default settings are now clearly marked as such. Improved We have moved the workspace “records processed” counter to the top right corner of the dashboard.

Added Custom Domain users can now set a redirect for their custom domain root. Users will be redirected to the configured URL when accessing your custom domain directly, instead of a specific extension, e.g. https://portal.mydomain.com could redirect to your main portal. This can be set up in the workspace settings, under Custom Domain.
Improved The filter and sorting fields available in portal views/shared views are now solely based on the fields visible in that particular view. Before, in some cases, users would see fields available for filtering and sorting that weren’t visible in the view, but this has been resolved by this change.
Improved In the portal/shared view, when a field has a custom title defined in the expanding form, that custom title will be shown in the list of filter or sorting fields, instead of the actual field name from Airtable. This should avoid confusion by end users.
