Generate QR Codes for Records turns a field value in Airtable into a QR-code image attachment. Use a URL for a scannable link, or supply correctly formatted text for another QR-supported payload.
What you can do
- Read a selected source field for each record.
- Generate a PNG QR image.
- Save the code in an attachment field for printing or another publishing workflow.
Use cases and examples
An equipment table can store an instruction URL and generate a QR image for each asset label. Scan a sample at its intended printed size before producing the full set of labels.
- Links and record access: Encode a URL, including a miniExtensions Form edit link, into a QR image for a printed label or sharing workflow. For a Form link that updates the record automatically when opened, see how to update a record with one click using prefill and auto-submit.
- Text and contact workflows: Encode text or a suitably formatted email, phone, contact-card, or event payload. The scanner’s interpretation depends on the encoded content; the automation does not assemble those structured payloads for you.
How to get started
Choose the source value and output attachment field, then test a few records. Confirm what your scanner opens or displays and choose whether later runs should preserve or replace existing code images.
Good to know
Printed QR codes encode a fixed value. Use a Dynamic Redirect URL when the destination needs to change without reprinting.
