Automatically crop images stored in Airtable attachments!

Create cropped image copies from attachments stored in Airtable. The miniExtensions Crop Images automation lets you choose a centered crop or a Smart Crop and save the result to a separate attachment field.

What you can do

  • Choose a centered crop or Smart Crop.
  • Set the desired output dimensions.
  • Save cropped JPEG copies in another attachment field.

Choose framing and dimensions

Center Crop uses the center of the source image for the requested output dimensions. Smart Crop selects a content-based area that it considers important, with padding available to leave more space around the suggested framing.

Set the width and height to prepare consistent profile images, thumbnails, or catalog previews. Images with subjects near an edge or several people may need a different setting, so review a varied sample rather than judging only one source.

The cropped copies are saved as JPEG images in the output field. Keep the original field when you may need a different crop or source transparency later. The current Smart Crop suggestion should be reviewed rather than treated as reliable face detection.

A practical example

A team directory can contain portrait photos with varying dimensions. Generate square thumbnails in a second field, review the suggested crops, and use the approved output in the team’s existing publishing workflow.

How to get started

Select source and output image fields, choose the crop mode and dimensions, and review sample crops before processing the collection.

Good to know

Smart Crop suggests a framing choice rather than guaranteeing face detection. JPEG output does not preserve transparency.
