Rename Attachments with Airtable Field updates attachment filenames using a value stored in the same Airtable record. A formula field can build the name from an order number, date, customer name, or other record data.
What you can do
- Replace the filename with a field-driven name.
- Prefix existing filenames with a selected field value.
- Keep the original file extension by default, or explicitly enable extension renaming.
Example workflow
An invoice table can build a name such as Invoice-1042 in a formula and use it to rename the PDF attachment. Prefix mode can instead keep each original filename while adding the record’s project code.
How to get started
Select the attachment field and the field containing the desired name. Choose replacement or prefix behavior, confirm how extensions should be handled, and test a record with several attachments before running in bulk.
Good to know
Names change in the selected attachment field. Renaming an extension does not convert the file format.
