Read available metadata from an image attachment and write it into Airtable fields. The miniExtensions Extract Image Metadata automation can extract GPS coordinates, creation date, camera details, image dimensions, and aspect ratio.

Choose the image details to extract
Map the metadata values you want to store, such as coordinates, creation date, camera information, width, height, or aspect ratio. These values can make an image collection easier to organize without manually inspecting each file.
Location and camera details depend on what the image actually contains. An edited or exported image may no longer retain the original metadata, so a missing value is not proof of a particular capture location or device.
Only the first attachment in the selected field is analyzed. Keep the intended image in that position, or use separate records when you need details for several files. Review representative originals and exports before building a workflow around the extracted values.
A practical example
A fieldwork team can store one original photograph per record and extract its GPS coordinates, capture-date metadata, and dimensions. The team can then use ordinary Airtable views to identify files lacking location information or images below the dimensions required for publication.

Choose the image attachment field and map the metadata you want to store. Test representative images and inspect the extracted values.
Good to know
Only the first attachment is read. Location and camera details are available only when the original image contains them.
