If you have list of stock symbols (tickers) in Airtable, you can import their latest stock prices. This extension can be scheduled to run every one minute, and will update one record every time it runs. Ideal for Robinhood users.
Note: If a stock symbol is invalid, the price that will be saved to Airtable is negative one.
Troubleshooting
Stock prices are showing up, but they’re taking a long time!
Due to some API limitations, this slow process is by design. After the initial run, stocks will be fetched slowly, but after that, they’ll get updated regularly and you wouldn’t notice. So you have nothing to worry about.
I’m seeing “-$1.00” as the price of some stocks. What does it mean?
That means this stock symbol does not exist.
AlphaVantage offers 500 API calls a day – won’t it hit the API limit pretty quickly?
Yes, depending on how many records you have. The API limit would be an issue if you have more than 500 stock and you need to update all stock prices every day. But if you don’t mind them being updated every other day (let’s say you have 1000 stocks) then this limit wouldn’t be an issue.
Please note that the 500 API calls limit is only on AlphaVantage free plan. If you feel you need a higher limit, you can check their premium plan.
