Resize images on Airtable to save attachments storage space
💡Consolidated feature in one automation

We launched a Compress, Resize, or Rotate Images on Airtable automation where this feature is included.

This automation resizes images directly on Airtable. You just need to name the field where the images are stored and it will resize their dimensions + upload them to a new field. You can also set it up to automatically process any new records going forward.

Works with standard file types: JPEG, JPG, PNG.

Features

Additional features that are not shown in the video:
– The ability to save the resized images as JPEG.
– The ability to only process records in a specific Airtable view.

Troubleshooting

If I have small images, will they get upscaled?

No. Only downscaled.

What will happen to my non-image files?

They will be copied over to the new field in their original format (example: videos, docs, pdfs, etc).

I checked it to convert to JPG, but it is still saving as HEIC?

Resizing the HEIC format is not supported in this automation.

I need to bulk compress pictures, but I would like to replace the pictures i’m resizing instead of creating another file in another field because the field where the pictures are uploaded is where people are looking to find the pictures. Work around to delete the original and then add the resized one?
