Check HTTP Status of URLs checks links stored in Airtable and writes their HTTP response status into a field. Use the results to identify links that need investigation and to build your own monitoring or notification workflow.
What you can do
- Read one URL from the selected input field.
- Follow redirects and save the status returned by the request.
- Refresh stored results on later runs when overwrite is selected.
Use cases and examples
A content team can check a list of public resource URLs regularly, then filter records whose status differs from the expected result. Review flagged links before replacing them, since a site’s response to an automated check can differ from its response in a browser.
- Website reliability and link checks: Check public website URLs for broken links, server errors, and inaccessible pages. Use the saved statuses to flag issues for investigation instead of checking every link manually.
- Content and SEO audits: Check the URLs in a website or client content inventory to prioritize pages that need attention. Fixing inaccessible links can improve the visitor experience; a status check alone does not establish content quality or guarantee better search rankings.
- Website migrations and redesigns: Recheck old URLs after a migration to see whether following their redirects reaches an accessible destination. Verify the destination and redirect chain separately when you need to confirm that every link goes to the intended page.
- Backlink monitoring: Check public pages recorded in a backlink inventory for accessibility. A successful response does not confirm that the backlink still appears on the page or points to the right destination.
- Competitor research: Check the accessibility of public competitor URLs in a research table. Combine those results with your own page review; HTTP status alone does not reveal a competitor’s SEO strategy or site structure.

Select the URL Field and HTTP Status Field, test a few known working and broken links, and decide how to run the checks. Use overwrite when existing results need refreshing.
Good to know
The tool checks an HTTP response, not the accuracy of page content. Some sites respond differently to automated checks.
