Detect the Dominant Color from Airtable Images

Auto extract the primary color and add its Hex code into Airtable

Detect the Dominant Color from Images uses Sightengine to identify a dominant color in an Airtable image attachment and writes its hexadecimal color code into a field. Use the stored code for sorting, review, or another color-based workflow.

What you can do

  • Read the first attachment in the selected image field.
  • Use a Sightengine user ID and API key.
  • Store one dominant-color hex value for each processed record.

Use cases and examples

A design asset table can attach a representative image and create a Dominant Color field. The team can then group or filter assets using that stored value without manually sampling every image.

  • Design and color organization: Extract an image’s dominant color as a hexadecimal value to help organize visual assets or prepare a design reference without manually sampling every image.

How to get started

Add the Sightengine user ID and API key to your workspace and select them in the automation. Choose the image field and text output field, then test several representative images.

Good to know

Only the first attachment is analyzed. The result is one estimated dominant color, rather than a full image palette.
